Children can begin learning skills to manage anger at any age. Helping young children manage anger requires more Anger Management workbooks, classes, and resources that target young kids, and even toddlers.
Helping Young Children Manage Anger
Grab The Wheel is a comprehensive Anger Management and Social Skills curriculum designed for young children, 4-8 years old, and is tailored to be accessible for children with high-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The lessons are designed to provide teachers with a structure to help young children manage anger over the course of a school year.
Grab The Wheel is the newest addition to our line of products and services. This expansion will now make Anderson & Anderson Anger Management & Emotional Intelligence Services accessible for the entire family. Anger Management for Adults, Adolescents, and Children. A direct adaptation of the Contrasting Wheels Of Behavior, Grab The Wheel is the product of a collaborative effort between Anderson & Anderson and two Clinical Psychology Ph.Ds from the Early Childhood Partial Hospitalization Program at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Anderson & Anderson, is the largest provider of Certified Anger Management Facilitator trainings and Anger Management and Emotional Intelligence coaching in the world. The UCLA Early Childhood Partial Hospitalization Program (ECPHP) is an internationally respected clinic that provides multidisciplinary services and behavioral intervention for young children with Autism.
The Future Of Anderson & Anderson + Grab The Wheel
A Family Friendly Model Helps Young Children Manage Anger
With the addition of Grab The Wheel, we will now be able to offer specific, structured, and skills-based intervention for Adults, Adolescents, and Children–including children with special needs. The addition of Grab The Wheel now paves way for a parent-child model, where children and parents can be trained in effective Anger Management and Emotional Intelligence Skills, and work towards improving their awareness and coping skills together. We believe helping young children manage anger must be a collaborative effort. We commonly tell our clients “Keep The Wheels on the fridge! Post them in the living room!” Now, with Grab The Wheel, parents and children can use similar language to address and work through angry and upsetting situations.
Expanded Training Opportunities
We currently have trained thousands of professionals all over the world in our Anger Management and Domestic Violence models, and empowered them to become providers in their own communities, or return to their schools or agencies ready to implement Anger Management or Domestic Violence groups and classes. With Grab The Wheel, I will personally offer in-school trainings to teachers and ancillary staff such as para-professionals and other aides, in using this model to help children who may be struggling with social-emotional skills, whether they are on the Autism Spectrum or not.
Individual and Group Sessions for Young Children
Helping young children manage anger requires practice. We will now offer individual and group Anger Management and Social Skills classes for young children, using the Grab The Wheel model. I have many years of experience running social groups that target problematic social and coping behaviors, and teaching social and emotional skills to kids of varying abilities. These groups will be interactive, fun, and engaging experiences, and must include play, games, and recreational activities to help engage the children in the material. Grab The Wheel provides built-in lessons, activities, and games, and I plan to work together with other trained behavioral therapists to offer these groups, as well as parent education, that is individually tailored to each child.
